MEET OUR TEAM

  • Johannah she/her

    Founder/Executive Director
Johannah moved to Bend, OR in 2013 from Bellingham, WA. She graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.

Her passion for animal welfare started when she took a job at a local humane society. She was inspired to be a vocal advocate for animals in her care and developed an understanding of the human-animal bond. Later, she started a job at a low-cost spay and neuter clinic. There she was faced with the overt disparities and hardships individuals with companion animals faced with veterinary expenses and being able to provide for themselves and their families. She knew the importance of helping keep people and pets together and wanted to continue to advocate and help to do so.

Johannah holds certificates in Animal Behavior and Low-Stress handling and is a registered Community Health Worker (CHW)

  • Sierra she/her

    President

    Strategic Planning/Marketing

Sierra believes in the power of nonprofits. After nearly two-decades working in the social services sector, she considers them the frontline of tackling the world’s most pressing issues and long standing problems. And that they are doing it with both limited resources and boundless creativity. Her aim is always to help them become as efficient and effective as they are passionate about their missions. She loves the mission of CAMP, and is thrilled to help take it to the next level strategically.

  • Ruth they/them

    Vice-President

Ruth grew up in Whittier CA, but ultimately settled in New Orleans, where they lived for close to 20 years. In 2017, they moved to Athens, GA, to help reclaim and save a Victorian-era home, and after that project, made their way to Bend at the end of 2022.

Ruth began their professional journey in graphic design, owning their own design firm for over 15 years before they were accepted to Tulane University for a dual degree program for computing and graphic art. Ruth has worked as a transportation executive in New Orleans, and helped to incubate several smaller transportation start-ups, but has found their calling in healthcare leadership where they have worked for the last 5 years. While in Georgia, Ruth served on quite a few boards including the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, the Oglethorpe County Health Department, and the Athens-Clarke County Public Library - and one of their first commitments upon arriving in Bend was to join the Public Health Advisory Board for Deschutes County.

Ruth is passionate about animal advocacy, which has been a driving factor in their volunteer work and has led them to collaborate with the Audubon Institute, Louisiana Boxer Rescue, Athens-Clarke County Animal Shelter, and others. In addition to their love for the natural world and environmental causes, Ruth has been a strong supporter of 2SLGBTQI+ rights and has worked to develop community programs that highlight and support queer life.
