Why The Peaches Program?
Are you aware of the staggering number of dogs and cats in Central Oregon desperately seeking forever homes? Just take a quick scroll through Craigslist, social media, and local humane society adoption pages to witness the overwhelming need firsthand.
But here's the thing: amidst this sea of homeless pets, there's a special focus that often goes unnoticed. It's the rehoming needs of nearby houseless communities. That's where The Peaches Program steps in.
At Companion Animal Medical Project (CAMP), we're dedicated to supporting pet owners experiencing homelessness in Central Oregon. We strive to provide no-cost spay/neuter services, but the demand is immense, and it's tough to keep up.
Enter The Peaches Program: our answer to the urgent rehoming and surrender requests flooding our community. We take in surrendered litter, ensure momma dog or cat is fixed, and reunite her with her owner. Every single one of our dogs and cats comes from here in Central Oregon because that's where our efforts are focused.

Autumn was 1/5 dogs that came to us from an unfortunate situation, but is recovering and thriving in foster! She is smart, spunky, cuddly and active! She will be her best with continued positive reinforcement and enrichment.
September, 2-3 yrs
Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund Mix (small)
Sex: Female, spayed

September was 1/5 dogs that came to us from an unfortunate situation, but is recovering and thriving in foster! She would do best with a canine buddy to help her feel safe. She is shy at first but loves to be with her person(s) and a canine friend.

Breed: Terrier Mix (small)
Sex: Male, neutered
Dogs- yes

Crate trained- YES
House trained- YES (will mark in new spaces until familiar)
Teddy is a special boy that will need a very patient dog-savvy, breed understanding home. Teddy came to use from CA so not much is known about his past. When he first came to us, he would not allow being touched/pet and was very untrusting. He has come a LONG way but it will take time for him to feel comfortable. An experienced dog-savvy person will be REQUIRED. Someone who understands and knows canine body language, the 3-3-3+ rule, and is willing to be patient. Teddy does love other dogs and would do great with a younger playful dog in the home. He is respectful of cats. NO KIDS. A home where he can play/exercise, go on-leash walks, and have his person- he would do great in! Teddy is a special boy who needs a special home- his foster is committed to him until the right person comes along .
