The adoption leg of CAMP when pet retention or reunification is not possible.
The Peaches program
Why The Peaches Program?
Are you aware of the staggering number of dogs and cats in Central Oregon desperately seeking forever homes? Just take a quick scroll through Craigslist, social media, and local humane society adoption pages to witness the overwhelming need firsthand.
But here's the thing: amidst this sea of homeless pets, there's a special focus that often goes unnoticed. It's the rehoming needs of nearby houseless communities. That's where The Peaches Program steps in.
At Companion Animal Medical Project (CAMP), we're dedicated to supporting pet owners experiencing homelessness in Central Oregon. We strive to provide no-cost spay/neuter services, but the demand is immense, and it's tough to keep up.
Enter The Peaches Program: our answer to the urgent rehoming and surrender requests flooding our community. We take in surrendered litter, ensure momma dog or cat is fixed, and reunite her with her owner. Every single one of our dogs and cats comes from here in Central Oregon because that's where our efforts are focused.
Follow along our page to see dogs and cats looking for their new homes.
Remember, all donations help support our mission of serving unhoused and low-income pet parents here in our backyard. Your generosity can truly change lives!

Joonyer
On May 12th, we received an urgent call from Bend Animal Emergency. There was a mutual client of ours at their hospital, and their dog had just been hit by a car. The outcome was either euthanasia or surgery. We connected with the owner and talked to them about the options, and if surgery was to happen, most likely we would be looking at amputation.
Joonyers owner lived in Redmond in what is known as “The Junipers.” A large area where many individuals either live unsheltered or in cars/trailers.
After discussing the options, which was incredibly emotional, they said “Just save him. Don’t let him die” and asked if they could surrender him. They wanted to make sure, whatever the outcome, that he not only survived but thrived and felt he had a better chance recovering with us.
Fast forward a month, and Joonyer is in fact thriving! He had a bumpy road to recovery, but with the dedicated support of fosters and his medical team- he made it. And he is SUCH a love.
Joonyer is a happy 10 month old tripod!! His mix is generally unknown, but through our known lineage/history we have, we believe he is Pitty/Doberman mix.
He would love a home where he can do just about anything- like relax on a couch or in a yard, play with toys, cuddle up with humans and even a canine buddy. We believe he’s been around cats but are not entirely sure.
His adoption fee is $400 and includes neuter, age appropriate vaccinations and microchip! Joonyer has A LOT of love to give and we can’t wait to see this handsome pup thrive!!
